Masacote Dance Company, from Boston, MA, is led by husband and wife team Ana & Joel Masacote. Shaping the perception of Salsa and Latin Dance today, the company performs to music written specifically for them by Ritmo Masacote.
In 2006, Masacote Dance Company became the first Salsa dance company in the world to perform and choreograph to music created by them and for them by Joel Masacote himself. In 2008, they became the first Salsa company to create a scripted dance theater production, entitled "Fantagious," with all music and dance compositions created solely by Masacote.
Artistic directors Ana and Joel Masacote have been judges for the Korea International Salsa Championships, Curacao World Tour Championships, and Montreal International Salsa Convention and guests of honor at the International All Star Salsa Cruise for 4 consecutive years, the Vilnius, Lithuania Salsa Festival, and Bermuda
Annual Mambo Nights. Under their
direction, the company hosts yearly salsa
retreats and conferences to educate and train dancers of all levels, affiliations, and
professional development.
Originally founded in Okinawa, Japan, the company is now based in Boston, MA, USA and has since gone on to perform in 20+ countries, including appearances in Australia, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Singapore, England, Italy, France, Spain, Sweden, Poland, Lithuania, Germany, Cuba, Bermuda, Canada, and throughout the US.
